ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran volleyball team split its matches Friday at the first day of the Macalester Invite. The Vikings earned their first victory of the year in the 3-0 sweep over host-Macalester. BLC fell 3-0 to Coe in the nightcap.
Against the Scots, junior Sarah Strom (Mankato, Minn.) led the team with eight kills, just one shy of her career mark. Classmate Alexis Morsching (Morristown, Minn.) followed with seven. Freshmen Megan Gallagher (Jackson, Minn.) and Paloma Garcia De Fuentes (Valladolid, Spain) had career-high 11 and 10 assists, respectively.
Newcomer Maddi Wendland (Arco, Minn.) had a career-best 14 digs.
In the finale, Morsching had seven kills and Gallagher had nine assists.
BLC concludes the tournament Saturday against Concordia-Moorhead and Hamline.
