MANKATO, Minn. – Freshmen Megan Gallagher (Jackson, Minn.) and Morgan Goettlicher (Le Sueur, Minn.) had career nights in the 3-1 loss to Buena Vista Friday night. Gallagher recorded a career-best 37 assists and 12 digs, while Goettlicher had a career-high 10 kills in the home opener.
BV won the first two sets (25-22, 25-12) and the Vikings claimed the third (25-23). In the fourth set, BLC fought off five match points, but the Beavers sealed the win with a kill.
Junior Alexis Morsching (Morristown, Minn.) led all hitters with her 17 kills and added 10 digs. Freshman Maddi Wendland (Arco, Minn.) had 32 digs, just one shy of her career mark. Senior Arissa Wilson (Eyota, Minn.) had 13 digs to complete those in double digits.
BLC owned the team advantage in assists, as the digs were even at 84 all, and the Beavers held the slight lead in kills (47-46) and blocks (6-5).
The Vikings return to the court tomorrow at 1 p.m. against Macalester.
