MANKATO, Minn. – In the third meeting this season, Macalester (9-3 overall) defeated Bethany Lutheran (2-9) 3-2 Saturday. The Scots extended their winning streak to four with the victory.
The Vikings won the first set 25-18, before Macalester claimed the next two, 25-12 and 25-14. BLC won the fourth 25-23 to force a deciding frame. The Scots won the fifth set 15-10.
Junior Alexis Morsching (Morristown, Minn.) and freshman Morgan Goettlicher (Le Sueur, Minn.) co-led the team with nine kills each.
Classmate Amia Broughten (Waseca, Minn.) had a career-high five service aces. Freshmen Megan Gallagher (Jackson, Minn.) had 29 assists as she ran the offense.
Bethany returns to the court Tuesday as it opens conference play against Martin Luther at 7:30 p.m.
