MANKATO, Minn. – Martin Luther (2-8 overall, 1-0 UMAC) swept Bethany Lutheran (2-10, 0-1) 3-0 Tuesday night in the UMAC opener. The Knights won 25-22, 25-23, and 25-23, and marked the first victory in the series for them in the last seven meetings.
The Vikings trailed in the first two sets, but used late rallies to make it 22 all in the first frame and 24-22 in the second. BLC led in the third set 22-20, but it was Martin Luther this time that rallied to regain the lead at 24-22.
Junior Alexis Morsching (Morristown, Minn.) had 13 kills and junior Rilee Hohbein (Holdingford, Minn.) had a career-high 11 kills.
Freshman Megan Gallagher (Jackson, Minn.) had 35 assists as she ran the offense, and added a career-high four service aces. Classmate Maddi Wendland (Arco, Minn.) recorded 18 digs and junior Amia Broughten (Waseca, Minn.) finished with 11.
BLC owned the advantage in kills, assists, and service aces (7-3).
Bethany returns to the court Friday as it continues conference play against UW-Superior at 7 p.m.
