MANKATO, Minn. – UW-Superior (4-8 overall, 2-0 UMAC) was able to hold off late set rallies by Bethany Lutheran (2-11, 0-2) Friday in the 3-0 victory. The YellowJackets won 25-18, 25-17, and 25-20.
The Vikings trimmed the margin late in all three frames, which included three match points in the final set, but UW-Superior was able to halt a further comeback to seal the win.
Junior Alexis Morsching (Morristown, Minn.) led the team with nine kills and junior Rilee Hohbein (Holdingford, Minn.) followed with seven.
Freshman Paloma Garcia De Fuentes (Valladolid, Spain) had a double double with 19 assists and 11 digs to set new career marks in both categories.
Junior Amia Broughten (Waseca, Minn.) led the team from the service line with two aces. Freshman Maddi Wendland (Arco, Minn.) had 15 digs.
Bethany returns to the court tomorrow as it hosts Northland at 1 p.m.
