MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran volleyball team (3-11 overall, 1-2 UMAC) earned its first conference win in the 3-0 sweep of Northland (2-9, 0-3) Saturday. The Vikings won 25-21, 25-19, and 25-15. BLC has won 15 of the last 16 against the LumberJills.
Three players recorded career-bests in the match: junior Alexis Morsching (Morristown, Minn.) had 20 kills, classmate Rilee Hohbein (Holdingford, Minn.) had 14, and freshman Paloma Garcia De Fuentes (Valladolid, Spain) had 37 assists.
Garcia De Fuentes finished with her second-straight double double as she had 16 digs.
Freshman Maddi Wendland (Arco, Minn.) had a team-best 23 digs and classmate Esther Peeters (Maasbree Limburg, The Netherlands) joined her in double digits with 16.
Bethany owned the team advantage in every category: kills, hitting percentage, assists, service aces, digs, and blocks.
The Vikings open a three-game roadtrip next Friday at North Central at 7 p.m.
