Vikings Fall to Little Giants, Spartans

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Bethany Lutheran baseball team (2-5 overall) fell in both contests Friday. The Vikings lost 12-4 to Wabash and 12-0 in seven innings to No. 16 Aurora.

Highlights against the Little Giants included a two-run single down the left field line by junior Ben Hopper (North Mankato, Minn.) in the third, and he later had an RBI single to left centerfield in the fifth for a career-high three RBI in the contest.

Freshman Malachi Santiago (Gilbert, Ariz.) went 2-5 with two runs as the leadoff hitter, and junior Liam Peterson (Port Orchard, Wash.) was 3-4.

Against the Spartans, junior Vaughn Pouncy (St. Paul, Minn.) and Hopper both went 2-3. Aurora was the first ranked team Bethany has faced since May 17, 2019 when they played No. 18 Webster in the NCAA Tournament.

Hopper and junior Reed Brown (St. Michael, Minn.) had doubles for the Vikings' extra base hits

BLC returns to the field tomorrow for the final games of the Spring Training Trip in a doubleheader against Concordia Wisconsin at 4 p.m. (MT).
