MANKATO, Minn.—The Bethany Lutheran softball team (10-9 overall) split the doubleheader with UW-Stout (10-10) late Saturday night.

The Blue Devils won opener 15-3 in five innings and the Vikings won the finale 8-4.

BLC plated one in the second on an RBI groundout and two in the fifth on RBI singles from senior Eden Ambrose (Hugo, Minn.) and sophomore Ana Christofferson (Mankato, Minn.).

Senior Zoe Kinakin (Victoria, British Columbia) was 2-3.

Bethany took the early 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run single from Ambrose. It added another run in the second and four in the fourth, thanks in part to a two-run double from sophomore Brynja Mielke (Sleepy Eye, Minn.) for the 7-0 lead.

UW-Stout got on the scoreboard in the fourth on a two-run single.

Ambrose accounted for the final Viking run of the day in the fourth as she scored on a wild pitch. She finished 2-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Junior Katelyn Halbach (Osage, Iowa) and freshman Kaija Mork (Sioux Falls, SD) each went 2-4.

Bethany returns to the field next Saturday against Northland for its home opener and conference opener at 1 p.m.
