TUCSON, Ariz. – The Bethany Lutheran baseball team (2-3 overall) fell in both contests Wednesday. The Vikings lost 10-0 to Emerson (Mass.) and 20-9 in seven innings to NCAA Division II opponent, Southwest Minnesota State.
Highlights against the Lions included seven strikeouts by starting pitcher senior Brody Curtiss (Belle Plaine, Minn.). Ben Hopper broke up the no hitter in the third inning with his single as he was one of four players with a hit.
Against the Mustangs, pinch hitter senior Jake LaBerge (Round Rock, Texas) had a two-run single in the fourth and Hoppe had a two-run single of his own in the fifth.
Senior Brent Fowler (Berthoud, Colo.) and junior Liam Peterson (Port Orchard, Wash.) both went 2-3 in this contest.
BLC is off tomorrow and returns to the field Friday against Wabash at 9 a.m. (MT).
