ARDEN HILLS, Minn.-- The Bethany Lutheran softball team (29-15 overall) fell 5-1 to No. 12 Bethel (34-4) Friday to open the NCAA Tournament.
Â
The Royals got on the scoreboard in the first as they took advantage of a Vikings' fielding error. BU added one in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth.
Â
BLC plated its lone run of the day in the seventh as senior Eden Ambrose (Hugo, Minn.) drove in classmate Zoe Kinakin (Victoria, British Columbia) on her single to right centerfield.
Â
Ambrose broke up the no-hitter in the second with her single to first. She led the team at the plate as she had the only two hits.
Â
Freshman Kayla Senne (Northwood, Iowa) pitched the complete game and struck out four.
Â
Bethany returns to the field tomorrow against Buena Vista at 2:30 p.m. in an elimination game.
