SUPERIOR, Wis.- The Bethany Lutheran softball team (29-14 overall) defeated top-seeded UW-Superior (33-10) 1-0 Saturday to win the UMAC Tournament Championship.

This is the second tournament championship in program history and first since 2013.

BLC took the 1-0 lead in the third on an RBI double from senior Zoe Kinakin (Victoria, British Columbia).

In the top of the seventh, the Yellowjackets' leadoff hitter grounded out, the next batter hit a double and later moved to third on a wild pitch. The next player grounded into a double play to seal the win for the Vikings.

Freshman Kayla Senne (Northwood, Iowa) went the distance in the circle and struck out three.  For her efforts on the weekend, she was named the Tournament MVP.
Bethany will compete in the NCAA Tournament next week. Complete information will be posted after Monday's selection show.
