Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lima, Offense Shine in 5-0 Shutout Victory Over Northland

MANKATO, Minn. - Antonio Lima notched a pair of goals and assists for six points as the Bethany men's soccer team routed Northland 5-0 Saturday. With the win the Vikings move to 4-2-2 and 2-1 in conference while the LumberJacks fall to 2-5-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the UMAC.

The Vikings shook off yesterday's performance and pace started quickly in this one as they capitalized early. Tomas Abreu was able to fire a shot that was deflected and went into the net in the 13th minute with assists going to Eirik Hansson and Ben Klausen. It didn't take long after that for Lima to start to make his mark on the game. In the 26th minute Liam Peterson would find Lima who fired one past the keeper for a 2-0 Viking lead. Less than 15 minutes later it was Andre Silva who passed to Lima and Lima played a beautiful ball back to Silva who was able to evade the LumberJack keeper and tap it in the back of the net for 3-0 lead. The teams would take the 3-0 tally into halftime with Viking keeper Nick Lundberg making a tough save on the only shot the visitors put on net.

Just three minutes into the second half, Lima and Hansson would make a few touches and the combination play would finish with Agostino Quadrio Curzio firing a shot that was deflected by a Northland defender and into the net for a 4-0 Bethany lead. Lima put his final stamp on the game in the 52nd minute when he would control a ball played off a LumberJack player and put a left-footed shot into the top left corner to give the Vikings a 5-0 lead that would hold for the victory.

Lundberg made a few more key saves late as he finished with seven total in the shutout victory.

The Vikings are next in action Thursday when they host North Central for a 7 p.m. match.
