Box Score MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany men's soccer team put on an offensive display on Thursday scoring eight goals to defeat North Central 8-1. With the win the Vikings move to 5-2-2 overall and 3-1 in the UMAC while the Rams fall to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
The Vikings got the scoring started early with Antonio Lima and Tomas Abreu both finding the back of the net in the first 11 minutes of play. After 15 minutes of no scoring it was then Andre Silva and Danny Pilot who were both able to score for the Vikings with Agostino Quadrio Curzio being credited for assists on both. The Vikings took a 4-0 lead into the halftime break, putting nine shots on net in the first 45 minutes while the visitors had one.Â
Bethany continued their onslaught in the second half when Lima tallied his second goal of the game just seven minutes in. Shortly after, Matteo Fustinoni was able to get his first collegiate goal in the 60th minute, but he didn't stop there as he scored another 12 minutes after his first to push the Vikings lead to 7-0. After a Viking penalty just outside the box, the Rams would capitalize with a free kick goal to get their first goal of the match, before Cam Brookfield scored the Vikings final goal with a minute to play to seal the victory.Â
Francisco Vilarinho got the start in net and made four saves while allowing one goal.Â
The Vikings are next in action Saturday when they travel to Northwestern for a 4:30 p.m. contest.Â
