ST. PETER, Minn. - The Bethany women's soccer team traveled to Gustavus on Wednesday night and suffered a 6-0 loss to the Gusties. With the loss the Vikings move to 1-2 on the season.
"Tough loss for us today," said Head Coach Emma Morris. "As a team we talk about moments of adversity and how we will deal with them when they arise, and today we have to hold our heads high knowing we left it all out there. Ultimately, we have to learn a lot from it, and we will take little victories out of it. That's a very strong attacking team and one of the best in our region. We'll bounce back and get ready for our trip to Iowa next week."
Gustavus got off to a hot start in this one, finding the back of the net twice in the first six minutes of play. They were able to add to their lead with another goal at the 20th minute and then one more with seven minutes remaining in the half.
After the break, the Vikings settled down, keeping things steady the first 10 minutes of the second half. The Gusties would score twice more though in a six minute span to get us to the 6-0 final.
Brooke Wolanin got the start in net, making 10 saves in the contest.
The Vikings are back in action next Tuesday, when they head to Waldorf for a 7 p.m. contest
