ST. BONIFACIOUS, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran volleyball team traveled to Crown College Friday night for a UMAC contest and defeated the Polars 3-0. With the win the Vikings move to 6-14 overall and 3-6 in the UMAC while the Polars fall to 2-22 overall and 0-10 in the conference.
After the Vikings took a decisive first set 25-14, the Polars would get out to a 6-2 lead to start the second. Bethany would draw even at 10 before Crown would push their lead back to 19-17. The Vikings would gain a point to draw within one before
Esther Peeters would tally three service aces as part of a 4-0 run to put Bethany up 22-19. BLC would push their lead to 24-21 before Crown answered with two straight points but
Lexiss Trygg ended the set with a kill to put the Vikings up 2-0.
In the third and final set the Vikings would roll from the start, getting out to a 12-4 advantage and leading by no less than four as they cruised to a 25-18 win to take the match 3-0.
Trygg led Bethany offensively in the match with 13 kills while also tying
Maddi Wendland for the most digs in the match with 21.
Ella Blazina also hit double digit kills as she tallied 11 while
Riley Sammon had an impressive match with nine kills and three solo blocks. Peeters led the Vikings setting duties as she dished out 20 assists, while
Paloma Garcia De Fuentes had 12 assists, three kills, and eight digs.
The Vikings will be back in action tomorrow when they take on Minnesota Morris at 1 p.m.
