MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran men's soccer team scored five goals in the first half on Saturday afternoon en rout to a 6-0 win over Minnesota Morris. With the win the Vikings improve to 12-6-2 overall and 11-2-1 in the UMAC while the Cougars finish the season 2-13-4 overall and 1-9-4 in the conference.
After no scoring in the first 10 minutes of the contest, the Viking offense got rolling as
Lorenzo Falleti found
Ben Klausen for the games opening goal. The same duo would connect for two more goals in the next 10 minutes, as Klausen would find Falleti twice in the box for scores as the Vikings extended their lead to 3-0 less than 20 minutes in.
In the 28th minute, Bethany would draw a foul in the box and
Raheem Graham would step up and convert the PK for the games fourth goal before
Cameron Brookfield found
Agostino Quadrio Curzio who would bend a goal into the upper right corner for a 5-0 lead in the 33rd minute.
The scoring would then halt until the 71st minute, as
Bryan Jaimes would notch the games final goal to give the Vikings the 6-0 lead that they would hold for the victory.
Francisco Vilarinho got the win in net playing the first 45, with
Mason Steffen saving the only Cougar shot in the second half.
The Vikings will now host Northland on Wednesday in the UMAC semifinal.
