Women's Soccer Cruises to 4-0 Win Over Cougars

MORRIS, Minn. – For the third straight game the Bethany Lutheran women's soccer team controlled things from start to finish in an impressive 4-0 win over Minnesota Morris. With the win the Vikings improve to 7-3-1 overall and 6-1 in the UMAC while the Cougars fall to 2-7-2 overall and 2-3-2 in the conference.

It was Elena Luján Rubio who got the scoring started for Bethany with a perfect chip over the Cougars keeper after a dropped off pass from Olaitz Azkue Muguruza in the 17th minute.

The Vikings would continue the offensive pressure and Mia Saulter would be the next beneficiary as she took a pass from Luján Rubio and punched it into the right side of the net for the 2-0 lead in the 35th minute.

Bethany continued to pour on the pressure for the remainder of the first half and into the second but it wasn't until the 68th minute that they would strike again. Ashley Casper would receive the ball just at the top of the box and try to work her way around the defender, eventually punching one past the keeper and into the right side of the net.

Emma Rowen would conclude the scoring with her first collegiate goal in the 73rd minute, as Azkue would drop one off to Rowen who would fire into the left side of the net from outside the box.

Brooke Wolanin got her third straight shutout in the match and needed to make just two saves in the contest.

Bethany is next in action on Saturday when they travel to North Central for a 1 p.m. contest.
