ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran
men's soccer team took on Bethel in a game that saw three goals in the final 35 minutes as the teams ended in ended a 2-2 draw. With the result the Vikings move to 7-2-2 overall while the Royals go to 3-5-2.
The teams played even from the start of the match, both firing a handful of shots in the early going with neither team able to put one on net. That stayed true until the 40
th minute when the first shot was put on frame by the Royals and it found the back of the net for a 1-0 Bethel lead at the half.
In the second half the Vikings came out firing shots early and it paid off 12 minutes in as
Christian Edwards evaded the keeper for a clean shot to even the game.
The skies opened up in the 73
rd minute as it started pouring on the players on the field but Bethany fought through and was able to net the go-ahead goal in the 74
th.
Nate Tadesse received a long pass and found
Ezekiel Human on a through ball that gave Human a good look at net. Human's shot was saved by the keeper, but Tadese was there for the rebound for his first career goal.
Bethel would net the equalizer in the 80
th minute and the two teams would play scoreless from there for the 2-2 tie.
The Vikings are back to conference play on Saturday when travel to North Central for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
