BROOKINGS, S.D. - The Bethany Lutheran men's and women's track and field teams sent a small contingent of athletes to the South Dakota State Holiday Open & Multi on Friday and a few Bethany athletes put together stellar showings. 

In his Bethany Lutheran debut, Aaron Stewart shattered the 60m dash school record by over 0.2 seconds, as he finished 10th in the loaded field of 50 athletes with a time of 7.05 seconds. The previous school record was 7.26 seconds. 

Stephanie Witbrod kicked off her 2023 campaign in the triple jump, finishing in eighth place with a jump of 11.22m. She also competed in the 60m hurdles where she took ninth with a time of 9.36 seconds. 

Trace Edmondson competed in the 5000m run for the Vikings, taking eighth place with a time of 19:10.65.
