MANKATO, Minn. - Bethany Lutheran controlled possession early and often as
Ashley Casper notched a hat trick on Saturday afternoon and the Vikings rolled to a 7-0 win over North Central. With the win Bethany improve to 3-2-1 overall and 2-0 in the UMAC.
It didn't take long for the Vikings to get on the board in this one as
Roxy Rehberg played a perfect shot from a few yards outside the box over the keeper and into the net to go up 1-0 just over eight minutes in. Just over five minutes later it was Casper who struck next, as she took a cross from
Elena Luján Rubio and headed it in for a 2-0 lead.
Bethany's offense continued the attack but they couldn't find the back of the net again until the 31st minute, when Casper took a sharp angle shot from the left side and slid it past the keeper for a 3-0 lead. It was then Lujan Rubio who found the top left corner of the net in the 38th minute on a perfect shot from well outside the box to put Bethany up 4-0 headed into the half.
The Vikings went with a different group in the second half and it paid off in the 47
th minute, as
Bella Garza played a perfect through ball to
Emma Lau, who tossed one up and over the Rams keeper for the 5-0 lead.
Bethany's offense continued to get chances, but Ram goalkeeper Abigail Herbolsheimer played stout in net, making six straight saves before Lujan Rubio would strike again for a 6-0 lead in the 87th minute. It wasn't long after that Casper scored her third goal of the game for the hat trick in the 88th minute that would result in the 7-0 finish.
Three different goalies got action in net for the Vikings with the Rams placing no shots on goal in the contest.
