MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran men's soccer team would claim a decisive 8-0 win over North Central on Saturday afternoon. With the win the Vikings move to 7-5-2 overall and 6-1-1 in the UMAC while the Rams fall to 5-7-0 overall and 3-5-0 in the conference.
Action would heat up early in this one, as the Rams were called for a red card just under seven minutes into the contest and would be forced to play a man down for the remainder of the game.Â
They would hold strong for over 10 minutes before
Ben Klausen would use a nifty move to get by a Ram defender before finding
Guilherme Gancho for a wide open goal in front.Â
NCU would once again lock in defensively and it wasn't until the 39th minute that the Vikings would score again. Gancho would weave his way through the Rams defense before firing one in for a goal. He would then score again three minutes later for the hat trick, taking a rebound off a
Daniel Almeida shot and putting it home for the 3-0 advantage headed to the half.
Bethany would then tack on five more goals in the second half as they coasted to victory.
It was Almeida who found the net himself in the 50th minute off a pass from
Gijs van Eldik before
Anastasis Daskalakis scored off a Klausen assist in the 55th minute.
Cameron Brookfield would then score off a back heel pass from
Jack Middleman in the 72nd minute before
Raffaele Carpani scored two unassisted in the game's final six minutes to seal the win.Â
Nick Lundberg got the win in net, making two saves in the contest.
Bethany will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Martin Luther for a 1 p.m. contest.Â
