NEW ULM, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran men's soccer team Wednesday traveled to Martin Luther and came away with a 5-0 victory. With the win the Vikings move to 8-5 on the year and 7-1-1 in the UMAC while the Knights fall to 2-11 overall and 1-7-1 in the conference.
It was a dominant performance in the Vikings in this one, as they outshot MLC 33-2 in the match and 14-1 in shots put on target.
Nick Lundberg, who got his eighth win of the season in net stopped the only shot in the contest fired at him in the first half.
The Vikings would net two goals in the games first 11 minutes, as
Daniel Almeida would intercept an errant clearance and knock it home for the 1-0 lead in the seventh minute before
Gijs van Eldik would play a pass over the top of the Knights defense and
Guilherme Gancho was on the other end to knock it home in the 10th minute for the 2-0 advantage. Van Eldik would then get a goal of his own in the 21st minute as he would spin through a few defenders and find the right side of the net to help Bethany to a 3-0 lead at the break.
In the second half of this one, it would be 26 minutes into the frame before Bethany would score as Gancho would net a goal in the 71st minute slashing through the middle with an assist to
Cameron Brookfield.
Raheem Graham would then dish out the game's final assist in the 83rd minute, as
Jack Middleman put one home for the 5-0 finish.
The Vikings are next in action on Saturday when they travel to UW-Superior for a 1 p.m. contest.
