Box Score SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Bethany Lutheran men's soccer team Saturday took on UW-Superior in a UMAC contest and fell to the Yellowjackets by a score of 2-0. With the loss the Vikings fall to 8-6-2 overall and 7-2-1 in the conference while UWS moves to 11-3-2 overall and 10-0-0 in the UMAC.
Each team would get a good look in the first 20 minutes this one with
Nick Lundberg saving the first UWS attempt while
Daniel Almeida would get a great chance for the Vikings after evading the goalie but a Superior defender would knock the shot attempt away to keep it even.
The Yellowjackets would then score in the 21st minute after putting the pressure on offensively and eventually sending a cross in that was headed in for the opening score.
Bethany would then control pace for a large portion of the remainder of the half, firing five more shots on net but none would connect as UWS would take the 1-0 lead to the break.
The Vikings then had some breakdowns early in the second, allowing a few UWS opportunities for free kicks, one of which they would convert in the 64th minute after a ball was crossed in from the left side for another header to make the score 2-0. Bethany would put a shot on net a minute later but it would be their last of the contest as they would fall 2-0.
Lundberg made eight saves in the loss while allowing the two goals in the contest.
Bethany will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Northwestern for a 4:30 p.m. contest.
