MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran women's soccer team Saturday took on St. Scholastica and played to an even 1-1 draw with the Saints. With the results the Vikings move to 4-5-1 overall while CSS goes to 0-10-3.
In the first half of this one, the Saints would dominate possession and pepper Viking goalkeeper
Arayah Baker with seven shots, but the sophomore stood tall in net and made each save to keep things scoreless at the break. In the first 45 minutes CSS would outshoot Bethany 7-2 and get eight corner kicks to just one from the Vikings.
The Saints would find a goal early in the second half though as they would use a perfectly placed cross for a tap in goal in the 52nd minute. It didn't take long for Bethany to answer though as they would get a corner just over a minute later and after the ball was knocked away to the right side of the box,
Elena Luján Rubio would punch it up and over the keepers head for the goal and to even the score.
The final 35 minutes were eventful with Bethany putting six more shots on net, but the CSS keeper would hold strong as the game would end in a scoreless draw.
Baker made 11 saves in net for the Vikings, who will next be in action on Tuesday when they host Minnesota Morris in a 4:30 p.m. contest.
