MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran softball team kicked off their season in style putting up 18 combined runs in a pair of victories over Concordia and Macalester. The Vikings defeated the Cobbers 10-4 to begin their day before an 8-2 win over the Scots in contest number two.
Bethany 10 - 4 Concordia
Bethany would open their season with
Katelyn Halbach and
Sydney Jacobs knocking back-to-back triples with an error later in the inning allowing Jacobs to score from third as they took a 2-0 lead.
A few Viking hits in the second followed by a Cobber error would allow a run to score, before
Kaija Mork and
Emily Doyle hit consecutive singles to bring across three more runs as they took a 6-0 lead.
Concordia would scratch one across in the third but a two RBI double from Doyle and an RBI single from
Haley Stockman would push the lead to 9-1. The Cobbers would add three more runs in the fourth and fifth with the Vikings getting one back in the seventh as they claimed the 10-4 win.
Bethany racked up 15 hits in the contest, with six different Vikings recording two. Halbach and Jacobs each scored three runs in the opener while Doyle drove in four.

Bethany 8 - 2 Macalester
The second contest of the day for the Vikings stayed scoreless through the first three innings, with Senne stranding seven Scot baserunners through the first three.
Bethany would get two runs off a Doyle single in the fourth inning before a pair of strikeouts in the bottom half helped Senne to another scoreless frame.
It was the fifth inning where the Viking offense made its mark, as they would load the bases with Doyle earning another RBI after drawing a walk. Stockman would then step up and knock a double to bring in two more before a Macalester error would allow two more to score and give Bethany a 7-0 lead.
The Scots would get two back in the sixth with the Vikings adding one more in the seventh as they took the 8-2 win.
Stockman had two hits to lead the way while Mork scored three runs in the win.
