MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran softball team had a pair of tough opponents on Saturday afternoon, falling to St. Olaf 4-2 before losing to No. 4 Coe College 2-1. With the results the Vikings fall to 3-3 on the year.
St. Olaf 4 - 2 Bethany
In the Vikings matchup against St. Olaf, the Oles would open the scoring in the first inning with one run.
The scoring would halt until the fourth, where
Bryn Weidner would step up and drive a two out double to the left field fence to drive in a pair of runs and give the Vikings a one run lead.
In the bottom of the sixth though, a three run home run for St. Olaf would give them a 4-2 lead that they would hang onto for the win.
Sydney Jacobs and
Jade Krenik each had a pair of hits for the Vikings in the contest.Â
Kaija Mork got the start on the mound, tossing three innings and allowing no earned runs, while
Kayla Senne suffered the loss in three innings of relief.Â
Coe 2 - 1 BethanyÂ
The Vikings had their work cut out for them in the second matchup of the day, taking on No. 4 Coe College.Â
Senne would keep the Kohawks scoreless through the first three innings of the contest before they would finally get through in the fourth. A solo home run followed by three singles would push a pair of runs across and put them up 2-0.Â
Weidner would walk to open the fifth for Bethany and after a sac bunt she would be drive home by a Jacobs single as Bethany cut the deficit to 2-1.Â
Bethanyy would put runners in scoring position in both the sixth and seventh innings, loading the bases in the seventh but they couldn't push the tying run across as they fell 2-1.Â
Jacobs once again had two hits for Bethany while Ana Christofferson also added two. Senne threw six innings in the loss, allowing two earned runs and striking out four.Â
