Softball Splits on Day One in Florida

CLERMONT, Fla. - The Bethany Lutheran softball team Saturday afternoon played their first two games of their spring trip in Florida, falling in the first 5-0 to Husson before defeating Cabrini 8-0 in the second.

Husson 5 - 0 Bethany
The Vikings struggled to get the bats going in the first game of their trip, with the Eagles striking first for a pair of runs in the second inning. They would add another in the third inning for a 3-0 lead.

Bethany would get their first hit in the fifth inning as Jade Krenik found her way on to open up the inning, but she would be stranded as they couldn't push her across.

Husson would add two more in the bottom of the sixth for some insurance and Kaija Mork hit in the seventh would be the only other Viking hit in the contest as they fell to the Eagles.

Kayla Senne took the loss on the mound, working three innings while Mork worked the last three innings and allowed one earned run.

Bethany 8 - 0 Cabrini (5 innings)
The Vikings would turn things around in game two using 10 hits to beat the Cavaliers in five innings.

Ana Christofferson would drive in the games first two runs with a two run single in the first, before Krenik would knock a two-run single in the third.

Bethany would use some crafty baserunning in the fourth inning to score three more runs, before Krenik would score on a passed ball in the fifth to end the game with the 8-0 decision.

Sydney Jacobs, Krenik, and Bryn Weidner all had two hits in the contest for Bethany in this one.

Senne got the win for the Vikings, working all five innings and striking out five.
