Meyer's No-Hitter Leads Vikings Over Rams

MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran softball team hosted North Central on Wednesday night and the Vikings took home an 8-0 victory behind a no-hitter in the circle from Emily Meyer. With the win Bethany moves to 16-9 overall and 10-0 in the UMAC while the Rams fall to 3-22 overall and 0-7 in the conference.

The Vikings kicked off Wednesday's contest similar to how they did against MLC on Tuesday, as Emily Doyle would launch a two-run home run in the bottom of the first to get them on the board. Sydney Jacobs was the runner on board when Doyle hit the home run, and after she reached base she stole second for her school record 27th stolen base of the season.

It was then some miscues from the Rams that allowed a few more runs to score, as a hit batter and an error in the second helped push one runner around before a Sydney Jacobs RBI base hit made the score 4-0.

It would be a few scoreless frames before the Vikings scored again, with Meyer holding the Rams at bay and allowing just one walk through the first four innings of play. Bethany would get another two runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it 6-0 after some solid baserunning and another error from NCU.

Bethany would add one more run in the sixth before Haley Stockman would walk things off in the seventh a base hit to give the Vikings the eight-run rule win.

Meyer struck out 11 in the no hit win while allowing just two walks.

Jacobs and Stockman each had two hits to pace the Vikings while Doyle's two RBI led the team.

Bethany will be back in action on Saturday when they host Crown at 1 p.m.
