MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran track and field team sent a handful of athletes to the University of Minnesota on Wednesday afternoon to compete at the Gary Wilson Invitational, while Stephanie Witbrod traveled south to Des Moines to compete at the Drake Relays.
Witbrod had a great day for the Vikings as she competed in the Heptathalon. She competed in the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, and 200m and scored more points in every event than she did when she posted her school record at the USD Early Bird on April 5th. She will now compete in the long jump, javelin, and 800m today.
Bethany also had five athletes perform at the U of M. With Aaron Stewart highlighting the day with a third place finish in the 200m. He crossed the line with a time of 21.89, defeating a handful of Division I and II competition in the event.
Austin Skaden also competed for the Bethany men, running the 200m in 25.39 to take 51st, while James Younge took on the 800m and finished 41st with a time of 2:13.26.
On the women's side, Riley Ping competed in the 400m and finished in a time of 1:04.64 while Callie Montgomery finished the 1500m in 5:57.10. Both marks were new personal bests for the runners.
