MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran men's soccer team Saturday hosted UW-Superior and fell to the Yellowjackets by a score of 2-0. With the loss the Vikings fall to 3-5-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the conference while UWS moves to 5-2-2 overall and 4-0-0 in the UMAC.
The Yellowjackets posted a strong first half in this one, scoring the only goal in the 45 minute span in the 10th minute while firing off six other shots to carry momentum into the second half.
In the second, UWS had just one shot in the entire frame but it came off a penalty kick which they converted in the 61st minute to hold a 2-0 advantage. The Vikings would maintain possession for a bigger chunk of the second half, including putting a handful of shots on frame but couldn't find the back of the net as the Yellowjackets would escape with the win.Â
After being outshot 6-0 in the first, the Vikings would outshoot UWS 5-1 in the second but failed to finish. The Yellowjackets also had eight corners in the contest to zero from Bethany.
The Vikings will next be in action on Wednesday when they travel to Crown for a 7 p.m. matchup.
