MANKATO, Minn. - Elena Luján Rubio posted her third hat trick of the season Tuesday, leading Bethany women's soccer past UM-Morris 4-1 at Scheels Field. The Vikings improve to 7-6-2 overall and 7-2-1 in the UMAC.
Luján Rubio became just the second player in program history to reach the 50-career goal mark, now with 52, which is five shy of the record held by Madison Perry (2017-21).
Riley Ping got the scoring started in the eighth minute with her fourth goal of the season, assisted by Roxy Rehberg. The score remained 1-0 at half with a 6-5 shot advantage for the Vikings.
Luján Rubio scored her first goal of the game in the 50th minute, her second in the 61st minute, assisted by Mia Johnson, and her third on a free kick in the 67th minute. Luján Rubio extended her UMAC lead in goals to 15 this season, which is a career-high and tied for fourth most in program history.
UM-Morris ended the shutout with just 38 seconds left in the game as Arayah Baker finished with six saves.
The Vikings continue conference play Saturday afternoon at home against North Central.
