MANKATO, Minn. - Elena Luján Rubio stands alone atop of the Bethany women's soccer record book after a four-goal, one-assist performance in a 9-1 win over North Central on Saturday. Luján Rubio passed Madison Perry (2017-21) for most career points in program history, now with 140 points on 56 goals and 28 assists.
Luján Rubio got the scoring started 1:52 into the match with an unassisted goal. Riley Ping followed suit with her fifth goal of the season at the 3:22 mark, which proved to be the game-winner. Mia Johnson scored back-to-back goals in the 12th and 26th minutes, increasing her season total to six. Luján Rubio netted her second goal of the game in the 34th minute and then assisted on Grace Sundby's fourth goal of the year with 48 seconds left in the half. Bethany led 6-0 at half with an 18-4 advantage in shots.
Ines Fernandez connected with Luján Rubio in the 48th minute for a 7-0 lead and then Luján Rubio tied her career-high with her fourth goal of the game in the 59th minute. The Rams ended the shutout in the 75th minute before Sundby netted her second goal of the game in the 81st minute, assisted by Marin Scherber.
Bethany outshot North Central 33-7 overall and 19-4 on goal. The Vikings had 13 corner kicks compared to zero by the Rams. Sara Lara Tabuena made three saves in goal.
The Vikings travel to UW-River Falls on Tuesday night for their final non-conference match of the season.
