NEW ULM, Minn. - Bethany men's soccer got back in the win column Tuesday with a convincing 7-1 victory at Martin Luther. The Vikings improve to 5-5-2 overall and 5-1-0 in the UMAC with their fifth win in the past six games.Â
Seven different Vikings scored a goal in the game. Miguel Goncalves got the scoring started in the sixth minute, assisted by Guilherme Gancho. Gancho then scored with the help of Diogo Cavalcanti in the 14th minutes, followed by a score from Ted Tendaie, assisted by Goncalves and Santiago Rios in the 17th minute. Kelvin Hanson netted his first goal of the season in the 30th minute and the Vikings led 4-0 at half with a 14-5 advantage in shots and 7-0 lead in corner kicks.Â
Vincente Oliveira gave the Vikings a 5-0 lead five minutes into the second half, assisted by Jackson Mottl, and then Cavalcanti posted his fourth goal of the season in the 59th minute, which was set up by Tony Lederle and Gancho. Ezekiel Human got his first score of the year in the 67th minute, assisted by Rios and Liam Gosch, before Martin Luther ended the shutout in the 75th minute.Â
Bethany outshot Martin Luther 28-6 overall and 16-2 on goal as Daniel Hughes made one save for the win. The Vikings had 10 corners compared to zero by the Knights.Â
The Vikings are back on the road Saturday at Crown with a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.Â
