NEW ULM, Minn. - Elena Luján Rubio had a career day for the Bethany women's soccer team, scoring four goals in a decisive 8-1 win at Martin Luther on Tuesday. Winners of four of their last five matches, the Vikings improve to 4-5-2 overall and 4-1-1 in the UMAC.
Luján Rubio scored twice in each half and assisted on two others, setting a career-high mark for goals in a game, while increasing her career total to 46 goals, which ranks second in program history. Her 117 career points are third most and two away from moving into second place all time. Luján Rubio's four goals also tie a program single game record.
Reese Moorad also had a big game, scoring the first and last goal of the game while assisting on another. Roxy Rehberg and Riley Ping tallied the other two goals for the Vikings.
Bethany led 5-0 at half with an 11-5 shot advantage and finished with a 22-7 lead in overall shots (17-3 on goal). Arayah Baker and Sara Lara Tabuena split time in goal. Baker made two saves in the first half and Lara Tabuena allowed the lone Knight goal in the second.
The Vikings are back on the road Satfurday afternoon at Crown with a 1 p.m. kickoff.
