LAST TIME THEY MET
Bethany completed the series sweep over Northwestern-St. Paul on Oct. 18 with a 4-0 shutout in St. Paul.
Miguel Goncalves was the player of the game, scoring a pair of goals and assisting on another for a five-point day. Goncalves set up the first goal of the game in the 36th minute, assisting on Goncalo Nolasco's sixth goal of the season, which proved to be the game-winner. The Vikings had a 7-3 advantage in shot after 45 minutes.
Goncalves then scored in the 50th and 68th minutes for his fourth and fifth goals of the season. Diogo Cavalcanti assisted on Goncalves' first goal and the second was unassisted. Gijs van Eldik put the nail in the coffin in the 86th minute with his fourth goal of the year.
The Vikings out-shot the Eagles 13-7 overall and 7-3 on goal. Brady Price earned the clean sheet after making three saves.
Bethany beat Northwestern 4-1 on Sept. 20 in Mankato. It took nearly 40 minutes but Rodrigo Cardoso got the scoring started for the Vikings with some nifty footwork around a defender and then rifled a shot into the lower right corner of the net. Bethany held a 1-0 advantage at half with a 3-2 lead in shots.
Five minutes into the second half, Ted Tendaie was the beneficiary of a rebounded shot in the box, netting what proved to be the game-winning goal. Miguel Goncalves took a long shot from the left side that was deflected by the keeper right to Tendaie.
Ten minutes later, Tendaie tallied his team-leading fourth goal of the season after spinning around a defender and beating the keeper to the right side of the net. Vincent Oliveira set up the goal with a centering pass from the left corner.
Tendaie set up the Vikings' fourth goal of the game by leading Goncalves up the left side who sprinted into the box and made a perfect cross to Oliveira for the score on the back post in the 64th minute.
Northwestern ended the shutout in the 80th minute on a goal from Jared Mojardin.
