SUPERIOR, Wis. - Bethany men's soccer held a lead late in the UMAC playoff championship on Saturday, but eventually fell 2-1 in overtime to UW-Superior. The Vikings finish the season 12-7-2 overall.
Playing in its sixth consecutive conference playoff title match, Bethany gained momentum early and was able to apply pressure, out-shooting the Yellowjackets 6-0 (2-0 on goal) in the first 45 minutes, but the score remained 0-0.
Bethany keeper Brady Price wasn't tested until the 66th minute when he made his first save. Just over four minutes later, Ted Tendaie connected with Juan Campos to end the scoreless draw. The lead was short-lived, though, as Seth Davidson netted the equalizer in the 75th minute.
Superior gained the advantage of possession in the second half, out-shooting the Vikings 13-3. And just 1:15 into sudden death overtime, the Yellowjackets found the back of the net on their first opportunity, scored by Jake Kidd.
UWS out-shot Bethany 14-9 overall and 5-3 on goal as Price made three saves.
