Box Score 2 NEW ULM, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran softball team Saturday took on Martin Luther in a doubleheader and defeated the Knights 15-1 and 23-2. With the wins the Vikings move to 13-8 on the season and 3-0 in the UMAC while the Knights fall to 0-13 on the season on 0-3 in conference play.

"Coming from yesterday's game it was nice to see our bats hot from the get-go. All of us were able to get some barrel on the ball and drive in some runs. Our defense was also quick to respond shutting down each inning. I am looking forward to see our hitting continue to progress throughout the season! A great start to our conference for sure!"

After a scoreless first the Vikings exploded for eight runs in the top of the second. Seven different Vikings would get hits in the inning, with an
Emily Doyle bases clearing triple highlighting the inning as it made it 7-0 before
Kaija Mork brought her in to make it 8-0.

Emily Meyer would strike out the side in the bottom half of the second before the Vikings tacked on three more in the top of the third.
Hayven Linn, Meyer,
Bryn Weidner, and
Avery Carlson all notched hits in the inning as they made the score 11-0.
Orla Keys would drive in a run in the top of the fourth to make it 12-0, before MLC got their lone run of the contest in the fourth thanks to a single and three wild pitches.
The Vikings then added three more runs in the fifth, as Mork would drive a bases clearing triple to right field to bring the score to 15-1 before a quick bottom of the fifth ended the game via 8-run rule.
Five different Vikings collected multiple hits in the contest, as Weidner, Carlson, Mork, Linn, and Meyer all collected two with Mork driving in four runs. Meyer tossed four innings in the win, striking out nine.

Mork would knock her second triple of the day to open game two and bring in the game's first run before the Vikings exploded for nine hits in the top of the second to scratch across six runs.
Jolyne LeClair and
Carly Nelson each tallied two hits in the inning while Carlson and Doyle both added RBI doubles.
A triple followed by a wild pitch would give the Knights their first run in the bottom of the second but Bethany's offense would once again put up a big number in the third. Knight miscues were a problem in the third inning, as they walked five batters and had a few defensive miscues while the Vikings added five hits to plate 10 runs in the inning and take a 19-1 lead.
Bethany added two more in the fourth and fifth while the Knights plated just one run in the bottom of the fourth thanks a single and a few wild pitches as the game played to a final of 23-2 after five innings.
12 different Vikings had hits in game number two with Doyle, LeClair, and Carly Nelson all totaling three. Nelson and Doyle also each added three RBI while Doyle scored four runs.
Mork got the win in the circle, allowing just one earned run in three innings of work.

Bethany will next be in action on Saturday when they host Central College for a pair of non-conference games beginning at 11:00 a.m.
