WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Bethany Lutheran softball team Wednesday morning played in a pair of games falling to Dominican 5-3 before dropping a contest to No. 9 Trine 13-2. With the results the Vikings fall to 7-5 on the season.

The Vikings got off to a fast start in game one as
Emily Doyle would launch a first inning home run to put things up 1-0.
Dominican would respond in the bottom of the second inning as they would use a single and double in the inning to plate the game-tying run and make it 1-1.
After a scoreless third from both teams and top of the fourth from the Vikings, Dominican would piece together four hits and use a walk to add four runs to their tally and make it 5-1.
The next run would come from the Vikings in the sixth inning as
Kaija Mork would single and following a sacrifice bunt Doyle would get her second RBI of the contest with a single to make it 5-2.
The Vikings would add one more run in the seventh inning off a
Carly Nelson groundout but that was all they could muster as the Stars held on for the win.
Mork and Doyle each led the Vikings as they had two hits in the contest while Meyer took the loss in the circle with seven strikeouts in six innings of work.
Trine 13 - 2 Bethany
Meyer would get the start in the circle in game two and hold the No. 9 Thunder to just one run in the first three innings with the run being unearned.
Trine would add a pair of runs in the fourth inning thanks to two hits and Viking error before they exploded for five runs in the fifth. Meyer was pushed from the game after giving up four early runs in the inning with two home runs before
Avery Carlson came in and was able to get out of the inning after allowing just one more run.
The Vikings would use an error and an
Addie Ahern double to plate one more run in the sixth inning before Trine would add five more in the top of the seventh to claim the victory.
Bethany will be back in action tomorrow when they conclude play against Allegheny and Elizabethtown.
