MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Hamline on Saturday at Scheels Field. The Vikings snap a four-game losing streak and move to 0-4-1 overall.
In the 21st minute, Elena Luján Rubio forced a turnover on the Hamline keeper and immediately chipped it above her outstretched arms into the top right corner of the net for her first goal of the season. The Vikings maintained a 1-0 lead at halftime as Hamline held an 8-5 advantage in shots.
The Pipers netted the equalizer in the 59th minute and controlled most of the possession in the final 45 minutes, out-shooting the home team 10-0, but the score remained 1-1 after 90.
Hamline out-shot the Vikings 18-5 overall and 9-3 on goal. Arayah Baker made eight saves.
Bethany begins conference play Wednesday at UM-Morris.
