MANKATO, Minn. - The home opener for the Bethany women's soccer team Wednesday was spoiled by neighboring Gustavus 3-0 at Scheels Field. The Vikings drop to 0-2 early in the season.Â
The Gusties netted the first goal of the game in the 22nd minute which proved to be the game-winner. The score remained 1-0 through halftime before Gustavus added goals in the 54th and 88th minutes.Â
The visitors controlled the pace of play, out-shooting the Vikings 35-6 overall and 21-3 on goal. The Gusties also had eight corner kick opportunities compared to zero by Bethany.Â
Arayah Baker was tested early and often, making a career-high 18 saves in goal.Â
Bethany continues non-conference play Saturday at Augsburg. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. in Minneapolis.Â
