MANKATO, Minn. - Four second half goals resulted in a 4-1 win for Bethany men's soccer over Crown on an unseasonably warm mid-October afternoon Saturday at Scheels Field. Winners of seven of their last eight, the Vikings improve to 8-5-1 overall and 6-1 in the UMAC.Â
After a scoreless first half that saw a 10-1 advantage in shots for Bethany, the home team netted the first goal on a smooth sequence from Ted Tendaie to Martim Vilarinho to Emilio Barbajosa, who netted his fourth goal of the season on a screaming shot. Less than a minute later, Tendaie scored his team-leading 10th goal of the season, which proved to be the game winner.Â
Diogo Castanheira scored his third goal of the season in the 71st minute with the help of Jack Middleman and Barbajosa. And in the 82nd minute, Guilherme Gancho tallied his third goal of the season.Â
The Polars ended the shutout in the final minute but the game was already out of reach.Â
Bethany outshot Crown 26-3 overall and 17-2 on goal. Brady Price made one save.Â
The Vikings hit the road Wednesday to face Martin Luther. Bethany won the first game of the series 5-1 on Tuesday.Â
