MANKATO, Minn. - Five different Vikings scored Tuesday night as Bethany men's soccer defeated Martin Luther 5-1 at Scheels Field, improving to 6-5-1 overall and 5-1 in the UMAC.
Ted Tendaie tallied his team-leading sixth goal of the season at the 8:11 mark with the help of Frederico de Modesto Nobre. Vicente Oliveira then scored his first goal of the season in the 35th minute as Tendaie was credited with the assist. Four minutes later, Martim Vilarinho headed home his second of the season on a set piece started by Guilherme Gancho and flicked on by Ezekiel Human. The score stood at 3-0 after the first 45 minutes with the Vikings leading 16-2 in shots.
Rodrigo Cardoso netted his first of the season in the 57th minute before the Knights ended the shutout in the 64th minute on a penalty kick goal. Diogo Castanheira scored the final goal of the game in the 71st minute on a PK.
The VIkings outshot the Knights 26-5 overall and 12-2 on goal. Bethany also took 11 corner kicks compared to just one by the visitors. Brady Price did not allow a goal in 57 minutes with one save, while David Kahambwe played the final 33 minutes, facing only the penalty kick.
Bethany turns around immediately and travels to Gustavus for a non-conference match tomorrow afternoon.
