ROGERS, MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Bethany tennis played a couple non-conference matches on Saturday with the men splitting results and the women getting swept. The Viking men (5-3) defeated Edgewood 6-1 before losing 5-2Â to Macalester, while the women (3-4) lost 7-0 to Edgewood and 6-1 to Macalester.Â
The men started the day by sweeping doubles against Edgewood at the Rogers Tennis Club. All three doubles matches were won 6-2. The Vikings then won Nos. 2-6 singles matches, each in straight sets. Joel Simon lost a close 7-6 (10-8), 6-3 decision at No. 1.Â
Against the Scots at Baseline Tennis Center, the Vikings won all three doubles matches for the first point. The lone singles victory for Bethany came at No. 5 as Simao Caetano won 6-2. 6-2.Â
Bethany women's lone point of the day came against Macalester in doubles. Sailor Mohlenbrock and Anea Simunovic won 6-4 at No. 1, while Brianna Lienig and Emily Yehle also won 6-4 to claim the doubles point.Â
The women's next match is March 13 against Northwestern College (Iowa) in Saint Peter, while the men's next match is March 21 at Cornell College.Â
