CLERMONT, Fla. - Bethany softball opened its spring break trip to Florida on Saturday with a 6-1 loss to defending national champion Trine, dropping to 7-2 overall.
Playing as the home team, the Vikings started with an early 1-0 lead in the first. Olivia Sanborn led off with a bunt single, stole second, and came home on an RBI single by Carly Nelson, but that would be all the scoring for Bethany.
Trine hit a three-run homer in the third, and scored single runs in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings.
The Vikings were limited to just four hits. Emily Meyer dropped to 4-2 in the circle with the complete game loss.
Bethany plays Adrian at 10 a.m. Sunday.
