OWATONNA, Minn. - Bethany tennis hosted UW-Stevens Point at the West Hills Tennis & Fitness Center on Friday with the Viking men winning 6-1 and the women falling by the same score.
The Viking men started the match by earning the doubles point with a pair of victories. Declan Jones and Mark Barton earned a 6-3 win at No. 1, while Simao Caetano and Thales Oliveira won 6-1 at No. 3.
Bethany then swept singles play. Caetano and Oliveira won in straight sets at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively, while Simon, Jones, Barton, and Daniel Poulakidas each posted three-set victories at the top four spots.
The Viking women were swept in doubles and then Campbell Amundson won the lone singles match at No. 4. Amundson dropped the first set 6-0 but rebounded with a 6-3 decision in the second followed by a 10-8 clinch in the breaker.
Bethany is back on the court next Friday in Sioux Falls, S.D. against Mount Marty University.
