Vikings Take first two Against Polars

MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran softball team had dominant pitching performances and phenomenal hitting to take the first two games against Crown College in a UMAC doubleheader on Thursday, winning 8–0 in game one and a 9–1 victory in game two.

Game 1 – Bethany Lutheran 8, Crown College 0

The Vikings put together a complete performance in the opener, highlighted by a dominant effort in the circle from Emily Meyer.

Meyer controlled the game from the outset, keeping Crown off balance and limiting scoring opportunities throughout. The right-hander worked efficiently and relied on strong defensive support to secure the shutout victory.

Bethany's offense backed Meyer early and often, starting the scoring in the opening inning, and building on the lead until the run rule in the fifth. Leading the offensive charge was Emily Doyle, who turned in a standout performance at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs. Her production highlighted the Vikings' offensive surge and helped put the game out of reach.

Game 2 – Bethany Lutheran 9, Crown College 1

The Vikings carried that momentum into game two, behind a strong outing from Joie Koll in the circle.

Koll was in command throughout, limiting Crown's offensive opportunities and working efficiently through innings to maintain control of the game. Every time she got into a jam, she had clutch pitches, or her defense made standout plays.

At the plate, Olivia Sanborn led the way with multiple hits and three runs scored. Carly Nelson delivered the biggest swing of the game, going 2-for-3 with four RBIs, highlighted by a game-ending three-run double to secure the run-rule victory. Coach Dabu had nothing but smiles and praise about the Vikings' day.

Coach Dabu and the Vikings are back in action again tomorrow, 4/17, at 11 am aiming to sweep another conference rival.
