WAVERLY, Iowa - Bethany volleyball lost in straight sets to both Gustavus and Wartburg at the Wartburg Invite on Saturday, dropping to 1-5 overall.
Bethany 0, Gustavus 3
The Gusties claimed the sweep by scores of 25-18, 25-13, and 25-16. The Vikings only held leads with the first points in the first and second sets and then a 6-5 advantage in the third, but Gustavus quickly erased the deficits for the convincing wins.
Marti Jacobson led the attack with seven kills and a .267 attack percentage. Vivian Peplow distributed nine assists and Avery Carlson led the back line with 13 digs.
Bethany 0, Wartburg 3
The host Knights won in straight sets 25-13, 25-20, and 25-22.
Holly Hinderks and Brooklyn Erickson led the offense with seven kills each. Marissa Stamer provided 13 assists and six digs. Carlson led the receive game once again with 10 digs.
Bethany is back in action Wednesday night at Macalester.
