MANKATO, Minn. - Ted Tendaie scored twice to lead Bethany men's soccer (2-4-1) to a 3-1 win over UM-Morris in the UMAC opener on Wednesday night at Scheels Field.
It appeared as if the Cougars were going to take the first lead with a penalty kick at the 9:11 mark, but Bardy Price came up with a diving save. Just moments later, Tendaie scored the first goal in the 10th minute on a sharp turn-around shot from the 18. Liam Gosch and Mike van der Horst set up the goal with a couple passes up the left side of the pitch.
The score stood at 1-0 after the first 45 minutes with the Vikings holding a 7-5 advantage in shots.
Morris tied the game in teh 54th minute before Guilherme Gancho scored what proved to be the game winner at the 64:42 mark, assisted by Vicente Oliveira. And with seven minutes left, Tendaie scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season to put the game out of reach. Martim Vilarinho was credited with the helper.
The Vikings outshot the Cougars 17-8 overall and 7-6 on goal. Brady Price made five saves in goal for the home team.
Bethany is back in action Saturday evening at Northwestern-St. Paul.
