MANKATO, Minn. - Bethany volleyball treated its home crowd to a 3-1 win over Martin Luther on Tuesday night in the UMAC and home opener. The Vikings snap an eight-game losing streak, improving to 2-8 overall and 1-0 in the conference. 

The opening frame set the tone for the match with long rallies, including 11 ties and three lead changes. The Vikings led 24-22 late, but the Knights battled back with a 5-1 run to close out the set 27-25. 

The second set swayed back and forth early with four ties and two lead changes. Midway through the set, Bethany went on a 9-2 run to take a 22-15 lead and went on to win 25-19. 

Bethany controlled the third frame from the first rally and never looked back in a decisive 25-16 win. The fourth frame was filled with long rallies. The Knights held the lead for most of the frame and was up 16-11 before the Vikings started their comeback bid. A Knights service error sparked a 5-0 run for the home team to close out the game. Lexi Ashley ended the match with a pair of service aces at 25-22. 

Avery Carlson was all over the court with a career-high 33 digs. Abby Maloney led the attack with 12 kills, while Marissa Stamer distributed 21 assists along with 12 digs for her third double-double of the season.

Bethany is back on the road Thursday night at UM-Morris.
