Morris, Minn. - The Bethany men's soccer team was defeated 1-0 in a close match against MN-Morris today, at Morris.
It was a clear and chilly evening as the Vikings took the field after the woman's team ended their game in a tie. The Vikings came out strong and outplayed Morris most of the game. Bethany Lutheran outshot the Cougars 12 to eight, and had a five to two corner kick advantage. Vikings goalie Cam Koopman (Phelps, Wis./Phelps) made two saves, as opposed to the five saves the Morris goalie was forced to make.
The boys led in all statistical categories, but were unable to find the back of the net. The Cougars scored in the 83rd minute and held off the Vikings for the win.
The squad is now 4-4 overall, and 1-2 in the UMAC. To continue the competition this weekend, the Vikings will take on Presentation on Saturday in Aberdeen, S.D.
